A hand appliquéd and embroidered advent calendar with 25 pockets to insert perhaps decorations that the children have made or perhaps fair trade chocolates.

The appliqué nativity scene is in cotton on the jute background base. Bright and cheerful and a delight to display in the leadup to Christmas.

Handmade and purchased from the fair trade organization, YWCA Craft Centre, Bangladesh. The YWCA Craft centres are located in the capital Dhaka, and also in Kalijong and Savar villages. About 450 ladies, many uneducated and previously destitute are employed by the YWCA. Benefits include a compulsory 10% savings programme, interest free loans and health and legal support.
